*Qantas buys 7 more Bombardier Q400 planes for $218 million

 

SYDNEY, AUS (Reuters) - Australia's Qantas Airways said it had finalised a contract with Bombardier Aerospace for the purchase of seven additional Q400 NextGen aircraft for delivery from 2011.

Qantas said in a statement the seven Q400 aircraft, valued at $218 million, would be used by its regional airline subsidiary QantasLink.

The airline said it had invested A$600 million in 21 Bombardier Q400 aircraft in the past four years.

The Q400 and Q400 NextGen aircraft are replacing or complementing Qantas jet services and replacing smaller and older turboprops on regional routes.
