Cessna Aircraft Co. on Monday announced that it has delivered its 5,000th light business jet from its iconic Citation line.

The company said in a press release that the milestone delivery came via the hand off of a Citation M2 to Helitrip Charter LLP.

“Cessna’s innovative spirit transformed the light jet segment, and we continue to demonstrate our leadership in this segment by bringing products to market that our customers want and need,” said Kriya Shortt, senior vice president of sales and marketing. “The 5,000th Citation light jet delivery reiterates that our company remains the indisputable leader with decades of proven performance, reliability and versatility.”

Cessna, now a division of Textron Inc.’s Wichita-based Textron Aviation, entered the light-jet segment in 1972 with the delivery of its first Citation business jet.

The company’s light-jet product line now consists of the Citation Mustang, M2, CJ3+ and CJ4 aircraft.

The Mustang and M2 models are manufactured at the company's facility in Independence, Kansas.
