I am a Falcon-20 (DA-20) first officer based in Ottawa, Ontario. I am 30 years old and have a total time of 3300 hours. The Company which I work for provides contract service for overnight courrier Companies across Canada, and to the States to a limited degree. Our current routes consist of St. John's, Newfoundland, Moncton, Montreal, Wilmington, Ohio, Winnipeg, Regina, and Calgary. The bulk of the flying is done at night, except for a day run on the east coast.
The company has about 20 pilots who are either based in Ottawa or Calgary and work around ten to fifteen days a month flying on average 60 hours a month. The starting salary is 32,000 for first officer and 43,000 for captain plus $2.00/hour per diems. The minimum requirements for this company are 2000 hours total time and 1000 hours multiengine time.
What I like about the company is that it gets you jet time and generally the guys that have been leaving to go on to the next step in their career have gone to excellent companies making this company an excellent stepping stone. Besides this the Falcon-20 is a fun airplane to fly and I have very much enjoyed my time working for this company.
